Introduction
The below use case will help you understand how to split a product into 2 different variants if it doesn't exist in the vendor's store.
Disclaimer
This method is not possible when syncing with the vendor's store. It only works for manual catalog integrations such as Google Sheets and with vendors that handle orders via the Vendor Portal.
Use-case
Let's look into this example:
The vendor sells a bikini set but you, as the marketplace, want to sell the top and the bottom separately so the customer can choose a different size for the top and the bottom.
Considering the vendor doesn't have this option in his store and there is no SKU for the top and bottom separately, how can this be accomplished?
Solution
Option 1: The best approach would be to ask your vendor to create these separate items in their store.
- With this option, you would still be able to connect to your vendor's store and you could still send the orders directly to their e-commerce platform as well.
Option 2: Alternatively, you would need to disconnect all the feeds associated with the vendor and handle everything manually from the vendor portal (e.g. orders and inventory, etc.)
- This method requires more manual work. All the vendor's items would need to be created in a Google sheet, for example, and imported as a CSV into the vendor portal. This file should include the new variants you created.
You will then need to ask the vendor to manage the quantities of their entire catalog from there, as well as prices.
