Google Sheets integration - automatically update inventory

Introduction

Despite being considered a manual integration, a Google sheet feed is automatically fetched on a regular basis. However, the vendors need to ensure they manually update the stock in the file after fulfilling an order.

The latest development in this area is that Onport has introduced a feature that enhances this integration by enabling automatic stock updates directly within the file as well as the feed.

❗️ This feature is not visible in your account by default. If you're interested in it, please open a ticket with our team requesting its activation.

Please note that this is an early release and currently does not support advanced use cases, such as handling order cancellations or updating quantities in Onport if they are later changed on the purchase order. For now, the feature will adjust the inventory level in the Google Sheet by the quantity on the purchase order in Onport when it is first changed.

Setup

a) Go to Inventory > Inventory Feeds > (choose feed) > Connection tab > Google Sheets two-way sync > Enable:

b) Enable 2-Way sync so that orders trigger a deduction of units in the Google sheet by following these steps:

1. Go to cloud.google.com and create a new project (e.g., MarketplaceName Onport).

2. Enable Google Drive API in the Library section.

3. In API & Services > Google Sheets API > Credentials, click Manage Service Accounts and then Create service account.

4. Create a service account:

5. Store this email as you will need to communicate it to your vendors.

6. Click "create and continue" and then "done".

7. Open the just created service account, go to "keys", add key, create a new key, key type JSON.

8. Download the JSON file.

9. Open the JSON file and copy its contents to the clipboard.

10. Open Onport app > Integrations > Google Sheets and paste the JSON content into the 'Google drive service auth' text area: Onport Google Sheets Integration.

11. Ask your vendors to grant editing permissions to the service account email above and ensure the SKU and quantity fields are correctly mapped.

12. Once done, upon each Purchase order creation for Dropship Providers using Google Sheet feeds, quantity will be deducted automatically.
