Overriding vendor product descriptions

Introduction

Even though you're able to edit descriptions in your e-commerce platform, you also have the possibility to do it within Onport before publishing the items to your store.

You can also allow your vendors to do the same within the Vendor Portal.

Furthermore, you have an option to lock the descriptions from further changes to avoid overriding all the work you've done over time.

Common use-cases

For the marketplace: this feature can be useful if you want to curate your vendors' catalogs to match your description style - for example, you may want to have material or other product details in the description which is not something your vendor has.

For the vendor: it can be helpful if your vendor wants the content in your store to be different from what they have in their store - for example, a different language.

How to do it in Onport

Go to Inventory > Inventory feeds > choose feed > click the product name > Description tab:

Comments on the descriptions

Both the marketplace and the vendor can add comments which can be seen on both Onport and the Vendor Portal. This will allow you and your vendor to be aligned on what the product description should say:
