Introduction

This article explains how you can test drive Onport without connecting it to your live store. If you follow the steps detailed here, you will be able to play around with Onport without having to do any changes to your existing business - giving you a better understanding of how it works before you are ready to connect it to your live store.

Set up a Shopify front end

The first step is to set up a mock store in Shopify, that will act as your front end. To do this, you can follow Shopify’s instructions on setting up the store. There is no need to create anything complicated, as long as you have a store URL, it is enough.

Once your store is set up, you need to connect it to your Onport account. Follow these instructions on how to do this.

Set up a Shopify Vendor

Next, you need to set up a second Shopify account that will act as your vendor account. To do this, follow the same steps in setting up the account, and then just ensure you have added a few test “products” that can be pulled in as inventory to Onport.

Once you have done this, you will need to onboard your vendor account to Onport. To do this, you need to create a new dropship provider under the Contacts tab and choose Shopify. Then follow these instructions to integrate your vendor account.

Lastly, in the set up you need to ensure that you set up the order routing under the Orders tab.

After you have connected the accounts, fetch the products. This should now import the test products you created in your vendor account to Onport. You will find them in the Inventory Feeds tab.
